![]() ![]() (No, it's not set in Jamaica and has nothing to do with Jamaica.) Mary promises and so goes to live with her aunt and uncle by marriage at Jamaica Inn, located on the moors along the Cornish coast. Her mother exacted a promise from Mary that she would go to live with her Aunt Patience upon her death. Jamaica Inn tells the story of young Mary Yellen, whose mother has just died. I nabbed a used copy on Amazon and set out to read this story (which I finished late at night on yet another one of those sleepless nights!) I've updated those thoughts at the conclusion of this post!) I hadn't read another du Maurier book since but noticed on Netflix that Alfred Hitchcock had made a movie adaptation of Jamaica Inn and thought I'd better read the book before watching the movie! So I did. It's a fairly safe bet that Daphne du Maurier will be clean and I did so enjoy her book Rebecca, although I thought the story was broken during my last re-read. ![]() I do, however, always like to know that it's going to be clean. (We'll see if this continues.) I typically like the genre in spurts. ![]() Towards the end of pregnancy I was on a major crime/suspense kick.
